I was able to watch the movie in a so called 'Tough Guys Preview'. Normally movies start here Thursdays but the nation wide start will be at 11.11.11. First thing I have to say is that if you don't like violence and blood and stuff like this don't watch! There are a lot of this. Main character is Theseus and Henry is kicking ass. The fight scenes are spectacular no wonder he had to do a lot of training for it. Mickey Rourke as Hyperion is a great bad king and I loved the fight scene of Hyperion and Theseus. The gods didn't had much time on screen. I wonder if there were some scenes cutted out. Only Athena, Ares and Poseidon were having more than one or two scenes. Sometimes I had the feeling that Freida Pinto and Isabel Lucas were there to have some girls in the movie. I loved Luke as Zeus. He plays him more like a human than a stone cold god. You can see and feel it when he has to penalize Ares for helping Theseus and Stavros. Also when he sees his children die when they fight in the Tataros. I thought Luke is dangerous with a sword. Now I never want to met him when he has a chain in his hands. Some people said he looks older than he is but I think he has to look older than his own children. John Hurt is a wonderful 'old' Zeus. I liked that Zeus wasn't portraied like he was in the past. Tarsem Singh is right. Why would a God look like an old man when he can look like this?! I'm still not over those silly 'hats' some of the gods had. They look stupid. At least to me. But I'm sure as hell don't mind the skirts and the bare chests. The movie it self is stunning. Great visual effects and it was a pleasure to watch it. After the 'Troy' desaster I was suspicious about another greek story. 'Clash of the Titans' wasn't that bad but 'Immortals' is a whole different thing. Sure the story is inaccurate as movie can be. But it's Hollywood and not the History Channel. I would have liked it if it would have been a bit longer because some things were hard to understand or told in a hurry. Maybe there are some scenes on the DVD. Especially for people who have no idea about greek mythology it could be hard to understand some things. But all in all it was a great movie to watch and I can't wait for the DVD to hear the original voices!

Thanks for the reviews! I am curious to see it, especially cause I love Greek mithology and this kind of movies are my cup of tea, maybe that's why I liked Troy despite the weirdness of several things... Hope to be able to see in this week end or at least next one! Thanks for your review!

WOW, I am the first! First of all, as you know sometimes I hate you. So occasionally I will focus my attention elsewhere, to avoid the pieces flying around the world and Red rivers that flow ... ok. The important thing is to know it. So let me understand ... how many times sees Zeus? At this point, however, I would say ... but if you want to put these Gods, and also that they are young and beautiful... what the hell, you can show they how you should? Okay, I'm biased because somehow they are "my Gods", but... and what the hell! For more, I'm totally agree with Tarsem Singh! I have Greek origins, and I've always wondered why someone who is able to have the most beautiful women that he meets (all youngs, by the way) is only ever shown as a sexagenarian! He never made any sense to me. Anyway. I like this thing that you say, of human emotion which Zeus shows. It was already evident in the clip, the other day... the gaze of Zeus to Athena wound is beautiful. The Gods are dying? I mean, I saw Athena and the other, but anyway... Gods do not die! They come back on Mount Olympus and they rejuvenate and heal, according to mythology! So... Luke is so good with the weapons? We like it! ;D He has to look older and wise for his age. Zeus is the Father of the Gods, he shows young and strong, but he has thousands of years! As a person that has its roots in that culture, I tell you that yes, it is a film loosely based on Greek mythology, so it's fine if it does not follow to the letter. Also because some things are a little nonsense. I haven't liked Clash of the Titans. The only things that I save are the voice of the protagonist and, ABOVE ALL, the scenes of the Gods. I mean I saw the cut scenes e. .. My mom, fantastic! The acting is fabulous. Especially at two in particular. Big mistake, remove it. Huge. So I'm happy that 'Immortals' is a whole different thing! I can't wait to see it! I hope tomorrow. The only problem is that it will be in Italian and not in the original language. And the Italian voice of Luke is tremendous, according to the trailer. Not understand why they did not use the same of The Three Musketeers, it was perfect.

Maybe I can return the favour one day and hate you for seeeing a film earlier. I think besides the scenes we saw in trailers and pics there is just one or two more. The German voice for Luke isn't bad but I prefer his own. Not to mention that some things sound in a translation different. Like the 'Prove. Me. Right.' line. In German it has a lot more words. Yes, the gods are dying in the Tartaros. But later you see them fighting at the firmament. Like on the poster. Still havn't understood why he took care after Theseus.

;D Maybe! I HOPE SO! But WHAT THE HELL!!! I repeat: I would say ... but if you want to put these Gods, and also that they are young and beautiful... what the hell, you can show they how you should? But WHAT THE HELL!!! Ok, I'll stop. Yes, exactly, not to mention that some things sound in a translation different. Like the 'Prove. Me. Right.' line. It's a great line. In Italian it has become: Do not disappoint my esteem. I don't like it. Not to mention that the correct italian's translation is simply: Prove me right. So "why in the world" ( ) they have changed it? Fighting at the firmament? But then did not really die, right? They're Gods, for haven's sake! They DON'T die. They CAN'T. And... I don't want to see die Athena! She is my favorite! In short, the beauty of to love Gods, in a story, is that they can not die! If they kill them, is there any taste? NO! "Still havn't understood why he took care after Theseus." He... Zeus? It is not explained?

'The fighting at the firmament' is the background of the poster with Henry in the foreground. At the end of the movie you can see it, If they explained why Zeus took care of Theseus as a child I missed it. Maybe I was distracted. ;D Remember the pic when Zeus has Athena on his arms? That's in the Tartaros. I think the translation change sometimes to fit with the 'mouth movement' so to say. And sometimes you have to use more words because it isn't possible to translate it in another way.

It was not explained, that's true. According to Wikipedia, Theseus should have been a son of Poseidon, the brother of Zeus. Perhaps because of this? 😉
And Zeus in the guise of Luke Evans did not have many appearances, even as John Hurt - but Zeus has well known many of Bodys. 😉
As he turned from old to young and Athena then appeared, I found great. It was another "Wow"-Moment like in so many other Movies. I also cried when Athena 'died' 😥, but I knew that she will live on (just like the others).

'The fighting at the firmament' is the background of the poster with Henry in the foreground. At the end of the movie you can see it, You mean the international poster, with the round image in the background, I think... But... they fighting who? If they explained why Zeus took care of Theseus as a child I missed it. Maybe I was distracted. ;D Mhmm... yeah, well... maybe I can understand. Remember the pic when Zeus has Athena on his arms? That's in the Tartaros. I know, always knew it, but... I thought that he wore her on Mount Olympus, and heal her, and that the scene we saw in the special about Athena was referring to healing. THEY ARE GODS, THEY CAN'T DIE. And she's always been my favorite. I think the translation change sometimes to fit with the 'mouth movement' so to say. And sometimes you have to use more words because it isn't possible to translate it in another way. You're right, but I don't think this is the case. In Italian, "Provami che ho ragione" (it's the italian's right version of the line) is shorter than "Do not disappoint my esteem", and almost equal to "Prove. Me. Right", even for the "mouth movement". The truth is that sometimes the translators are crap. I noticed watching The Vampire Diries first in English on line and then in Italian on TV.

According to Wikipedia, Theseus should have been a son of Poseidon, the brother of Zeus. Perhaps because of this? Yes, Theseus is the son of Poseidon. It's a Half-God, like all the Heroes of Greek mythology. But according to what I heard in special, I think that in the movie Zeus worries and cares of Theseus because he sees his great potential, that Theseus has perhaps because slave and outcast. In fact, if I understand correctly, the movie does not mention the Half-God's nature of Theseus. He's a human like everyone else. As he turned from old to young and Athena then appeared, I found great. It was another "Wow-Moment" like in so many other Movies. I also cried when Athena 'died', but I knew that she will live on (just like the others). Oooh, I can't wait to see it! But how many Gods "are dying"?

I wish I could have seen the midnight showing but went to the first showing Friday. I was a bit confuse following the story line because I was to distracted by Zeus. There was a lot of woo's and oh my every time he came onto the screen. I wish he had more screen time for sure. Over all the movie was very good, it is on my to buy list already. I don't think the 3-D made a big diffrence, if it was in 2-D, it would have been just as good. Favorite part was when Zeus came down when Aries and Athena intervane and in the ending when he was pulling that huge rope bringing the mountain down. I hope they make a part 2, very interesting that Theseus son got his mom versions.

I wish I could have seen the midnight showing but went to the first showing Friday. To be honest, I prefer now that I've seen the movie the evening show before the late show, because after the end one cannot just fall asleep fast. I wish he had more screen time for sure. I too and certainly was also cut a lot. Favorite part was when Zeus came down when Aries and Athena intervane and in the ending when he was pulling that huge rope bringing the mountain down. Mine not; it was the scenes as Athena were asked Zeus whether they are in the war (after the scene described by you) and he looks up and had pee in his eyes. Shit, I almost cried too. And then at the end as Athena ‘dies’ (of course only on earth). I hope they make a part 2, very interesting that Theseus son got his mom versions. No, some stories should not to be continued. Hyperion will not come back, the Titans are also immortal, and Theseus son had done to my knowledge no great heroic deeds.

Thanks for the extra info, in this case I hope that Hollywood don't make another movie for the sake of money. In the US it was the #1 movie over the weekend.
When Athena asked if they were at war, was a deadly scene, the looked in his eyes did crush me. At the moment my 4 year old was asking me if he killed Thor because of the hammer. I need to watch it again, alone.
